Five arcade racers that make drifting the whole point

Realistic racing has its place, but sometimes you just want to fling a car around a corner and watch sparks fly. Arcade racers on phones have gotten really good at that specific feeling, and a few of them stand out.

Dust Drifters is my current favorite. It builds its entire personality around the drift — hold the turn, feel the slide, chain your boost. The tilt controls flow beautifully once you trust them.

What separates a great arcade racer from a forgettable one is feedback. Good ones make the road feel fast even at the same speed, through camera shake, engine noise, and how the car reacts. Cheap ones feel like sliding a sticker across a screen.

If you're new to the genre, start with on-screen buttons before trying tilt. Tilt is more fun but takes a steadier hand, and you don't want to learn it on a bumpy commute.

None of these will impress a sim racer, and that's the point. They're about joy per second, and the best ones deliver plenty.
